well till right now i still didnt get a 100% answer says its okay to roll start it ... thie thing is i dont wanna try it and then find out that somthing is damaged in the bike internal system ... and the answer for dizzie questoin as for whats wrong with it : the bike was on a ship coming from the united state it took about month and one week so the battery is did but i know once i get the bike started the battery will recharge again cuz that battery is brand new .. and there is no way to get it charge here .. or get any thing (that place is like if u go back in time 100 years or so) for god sake one of the kids was passing by with his dad and he seen me with my helmet and my honda jacket on he told his dad look it the (power rangers ) i swear it ..
the point is i wanna know if i can start it by rolling it and if so what gear 1st or 3rd .. thanx alot

 

If it's totally dead, I don't think you'll get it started by pushing it. Too many electrical things to get going with a tiny (dead) motorcycle battery. Most Jap bikes won't even charge the battery unless they're going over 2500 RPM.

 

It is absolutely 100% OK to roll start your bike. I've done many times on my 2006 F4i. I ran the battery down several times so far that all that would happen when I pushed the starter button was that my lights would go dim. Roll it down an incline and put it in 3rd gear and pop the clutch. Like was mentioned, make sure the kill switch is in the run position and the ignition switch is on. Unless your battery is completely shot, it should start. I rode my bike on the highway and kept the RPMs high for about 30 minutes and the battery would be charged enough to start with the starter button.

But ideally, you need to get a battery tender. But this will work in an emergency, I know that for a fact.

 

Try it. Ive never heard of any damage happening from compression (roll) starting. I could be wrong. As for the gear Id go with second or first.

 

That is perfectly fine. I would use first gear, I don't see why you would use 3rd which would need even more momentum. If you didn't know, the bike won't charge at idle. You must be at higher revs to actually charge the battery.

 

thanx alot guys i feel comfort with .i just wanted to hear it from some body who did b4 thats realy good as long as there gonna be no damage and only for one time i will make suer once i start i will ride it till it charge .. thanx a lot again and as for the gear would it matter if the bike is in the break in it has only 155 miles on it .. so my guessing is 2nd gear would be fine..

 

The fact that your still breaking it in should not matter. Just remember when you get enough momentum and pop the clutch the motor will kick over. If you are not fast enough on the clutch when you rev it youll be chasing your RR down the road.[:'(]

 

I would always push start my bike in second gear. I have done it in first, but it likes to skid a little. A good friend would come in reallly handy... he could push while you sit on the bike and hold in the clutch, then get going, release the clutch and it should start (make sure to have your key in the "on" position)
