Default Question about seat cowl...

Will probably get one of the HondaLine OEM seat cowls in the near future, the one with the screened vents on top, and was wondering how it's held in place? I keep hearing about washers or spacers to get the right gap between it and the body, but what holds it in place? Does it still slide in and latch like the seat does and is the lock mechanism retained?

the base of it attaches just like the passenger seat
the actual painted, vented parts screws to the base.
you put the washers between the base and the cowl to get the gap between the tail and cowl that you need and to level it off.

the gap is there so vibration doesnt damage the paint

go to www.hooliganbiketech.net

in the 1000rr section there is a link to seat cowl fitting

Like Baxsom said, the adjustment is easy. Just add or remove washers 'til the gap is the same everywhere. Just be careful to not overtighten the screws!

^^ yea, what they said. The concerns your reading about is from people (like myself) trying to get it dead on straight perfect. For the most part it just pops on and locks in place just like the seat.

Ok, thanks. That's about what I thought...just haven't seen the underside of one so I wasn't sure how it attached.

If you dont like those the 600RR cowl fits as well. If you dont like the vents in top.

Yeah, I thought it was probably the same since it uses the same seat. I'll check into the 6RR's cowl too, although I don't think that it will be color matched since mine is the bright metallic silver for 07. I'm not sure if they offered that color for the 600RR or not, and Iwon't mess withgetting it painted.

what do you guys think about having a different seat cowl color? i have the 07 cbr1000rr red/black. i'm thinking of getting the black seat cowl, just to make it look different than the rest of the red/black cbr.

i just need to know the rest of the guy's opinions.
