I think the manufacturers say that more fot the person riding the bike. They want you to get accustomed to the bike for lets say.....600 miles before you put 150 hp on the ground. It makes since especially for the new to the 1000 riders.

ORIGINAL: sixhundredrr

I don't discredit anyone's practice, but I trust my manufacturer to tell me good things and Honda says wait a few miles before opening her up. It can not hurt, correct?
no they dont
honda says not to crack the throttle wide open from a standstill for the first 300 miles (the hard starts or rapid accelleration part)
they say nothing about going to redline slowly

I've always heard the people that run them hard end up in the long run seems like a faster bike.

This topic was just on another forum a while back and I thought this was interesting. I guess its just another opinion, make your own decisions. I have alway's followed the manufactures directions and can't say I have had any problems with my bikes burning oil or any other problems with the engine. they have ran good and been reliable which I think is the bottom line.

Check this link out as those of you (like me) who havn't saw it will probably find it interesting.I hope it works for you.

the mototune method does not contract the manufactuers suggestions, even says not to beat on it. its a deliberate process of gradually increasing the rpm and load on the engine and letting it engine brake back down. absolutly no where in the owners manual does it have a rpm limit for break in so as long as you dont crack open the grip to WOT from a stand still you have not went against any recommendations from anyone.

i bought my f4i from southern honda and they said just don't sit in the same rpm range a lot (aka no mucho hwy)
a guy was buying a 1krr repsol at the same time and when a guy from the dealership test ran it for a couple of mileshe came by doing a wheelie probably around 60 mph
who knows what kind of rpms he was pulling on that fresh motor
