power commander question

Default power commander question

hey , I have a 06 1000 rr and i was wondering if i go with a power commander without putting any exhaust on will i still reap any benefits from it. I like the sound and quietness of my stock exhaust but wondered if just the power commander alone would help in anyway with my performance. thanks thobak

That's a tough question. Mine is an '04 with a 2Bros can and the FI is so flawless and power delivery so smooth I haven't bothered to put a PCIII on it.

A tough question for me too. I bought and installed one for my 06 and I still have the stock exhaust. I bought it because it did make a difference on my 05 600RR. I can't really say I noticed a difference right away because I'm still in the break in period on my 06 and haven't had the RPM's over 9000K. Once I do I will be playing with the PC zero setting and comparing it to the OEM pipe setting to see what I get out of it. Then I will change the map to an Arata slip on pipe set up once I get one. Then finally when I can afford it I will take the bike to a dyno to get the map customized. All that in the name of fun for me. [8D]

I suppose it depends on how good the standard setup is. I live at 1600m above sea level and most new vehicles are setup for sea level so I need to dyno tune my cars and bikes to get optimum performance. I think the PC is only necessary when you change components on the bike that go beyond what can be dyno tuned on the bikes standard management system

thanks alot for the feedback it does help and most of all i think once i finish my break in period time will tell.

I was told All bikes with factory maps are meant to run lean in order to pass emissions and therefore a remap would help in performance. I have a friend that runs a power commander in a stock 600 and it runs great.
