Wow!! thanks for all the replies guys. I was actually worried when i posted this that everyone would be upset with the desicion i made and barrate me for it.
Thanks for the input guys, and i really dont think i am gonna hear from the police, much less ever see this guy again.

I'm not for violence, but hey, the guy did pull over in a parking lot to accept the challange and got a beat down in return.
What I would have done is got his plate # and pulled over and called the cops. But we all know what happens...yeah yeah, we'll find him. Whatever, you aren't even going to look up where he lives and nail him for asault.

When it comes to you riding safe...I am definitely on your side. But consider this...
1) Some @sshole cuts you off and you survive...(you are still riding safe)
2) You pull him over and challenge him....(you are still riding)
3) You hit him with a helmet...(you are no longer riding and jeopardizing yourself)
4) You possibly land in jail, hurt etc...(you are no longer riding safe)
Your actions took you out of the game, not his.
So again, I am not judging you...what's done is done. I just caution you to restrain yourself next time because your reaction could have hurt you...considering you survived the driving incident.

he could also have gotten charged with assault with a deadly weapon (his car)
you are lucky he didnt go home and call the cops on you, if he or his GF would have gotten your plate number youd be in jail right now

but i am also a cop so i am required to think it is also illegal
