Default oil changing and or removing plastic

hey guys, looking at a new 2011 cbr1000rr.. have heard that removing the plastic sides (to change oil filter and whatever) is a major pain..hope this is wrong... i now have a cbr600f2 and its not too bad as far as removing side panels etc. thanks for any info....

It's not all that easy. Some say that once you do it a few times and get the hang of it it's not too bad. I've been changing mine for over 3 years and I guess I still don't have the hang of it. People have referred to the fairing fastening system on the newer RR's as Hiroshima's Revenge.

However, some people have done the oil and filter change without removing any fairings. Just use some foil to channel the oil into a catch basin and away from the fairing.
