At this time I am planning to buy one also. So far the only thing the 06 CBR1000RR is missing to me is a slipper clutch. Other then that they seem to have made the right upgrades like more power and less weight. Honda is changing the rear sprocket going up two teeth from 40 to 42; this with Honda shortening the wheel base by 10mm will make the bike stronger at the low end and wheelie better. The ability of the 04 and 05 1000RR's not being able to wheelie as easy as the other liter bikes was a negative in a few of the European bike tests I've read.

I am anxious to read all the comparisons and test write ups in the next few months.

Seems a good choice, but i won`t swap mine for one. As for the Cog and wheelbase changes, i love overtaking people at the track while there wrestling the front end down, just give me some more peeps t pee off.

2nd Than!!! Repsol is staying... Still can pick her up, but as I've said in the past the others may bring the front up easier - but you really have to focus to keep from flipping over in the straight or keeping down coming off the apex. Only takes ONE complacent day to ruin the rest of it! I don't have to lean over the tank as I did on my bud's ZX-10 or GSXR-05 1K... I'm sure Honda will make it much slicker to bring her up than the other manufacturers. So as Anubis stated, I'll just keep on winding her up without delay and cut in front while the others figure it out... Granted, I'm sure my buds will figure this out one of these days maybe and lean forward or desperately put scuba weights on the front somewhere...[8D]

I must say after 10yrs on the original 900 monster, Honda hasn't let me down with power placement and ease of point and shoot!

It needs a slipper clutch. The 1000RR is the most expensive, non-limited edition, japanese litre bike and they cant even put a slipper clutch on it. Otherwise I bet it will be awesome. I also like how they moved the wing up higher on the fairing, integrating it with the front end. Honda has always had good style in my opinion.

It doesn`t `need` a slipper clutch one would be nice and very blingin but the bike funtcions fine without one.

The 06 is cool but it is not that much faster. I run my CBR RR 1000 Repsol at the drags it has run a 10.001 at 121mph. The test bike with a pro ran 10.2

mine it's not going anywhere into 08. mine it's lighter and faster then 06 by a long shot. Maybe when they change the whole bike over again.
