RE: NEED ANSWER PLEASE HELP HID LIGHTS
What brand are they? Iask because I'd like to know who's ripping people off. The box may say "HID", but what youbought isan incandescent H7 lamp. High-Intensity Dischargelamps have an arc tube instead of a filament and (as others have rightly pointed out) require a ballast to operate.Connecting anHIDlamp directly to12voltswould result in zero light output.

You bought "simulated HID's" which are nothing more than a standard halogen bulb with a coating of blue around them to give a bit of a bluish hue

Here's an H7 Halogen and an H7-based HID bulb.........two completely different animals. The HID is on the right. And I agree with what has been stated above, you bought "HID simulated" halogen bulbs. There is NO such thing as an 80w HID........only 35w and the insane 55w HID. And HID bulbs can only connect to a ballast via the high-voltage silicone wires connected directly to the bulb (as shown in the picture below)
A decent HID kit is going to run you $80 bucks or so on eBay, a good HID kit will run about $100 or more. The best color temperature to stay around is 4300k to 6000k. Anymore and you'll just get a dark blue color on the road, which will immediately get the cops attention of an illegal HID retrofit. The last thing you want to do is be one of those people who buy those retarded 30,000k purple HID's who stand out like a sore thumb, only to add to the amount of people doing this.......resulting in harsher crackdowns on illegal retrofits. As long as people stay within the 4300k temperature, and aim them correctly, no one is the wiser.
If you have any questions about HID's, let me know. I've been around these things for a while now.

RE: NEED ANSWER PLEASE HELP HID LIGHTS
As said, you probably just have a regular H7 bulb with a blue coating to simulate HID. The problem with most of these is the light output is actually less than a standard halogen due to the coating. they look cool when your looking at your bike, but come nightfall and you cant see.
If you are looking for better lighting, try a set of Sylvania's Silverstar Ultrabulbs. they produce a very bright white light. Probably the bestlighting you can get with a halogen bulb.
Take BlueFox's suggestion and contact him about true HID.He's a lot more knowledgable about these setups.
