Default Melted Lower

This is a old thread but I spoke to Honda today. My CBR1000 - 06 fairing is melting at the bottom left and I only have 930 miles on it. Honda wont gurantee that they will do anything about it but I can take it to the dealer.

I have an '06 and had the same problem. Both sides melted with one side resting on the exhaust. I don't remember how many miles were on it but I would guess it was at about 10K. At the time it had the stock exhaust on it and the dealer got Honda to replace them no problem. I bought some heat tape and put extra tape on the new ones. No problems since even with an aftermarket exhaust.

Honda denied my claim - the warranty company send me the lowers free of charge but I had to pay for labor. Honda does not stand by its product.

What was the fee for labor? Any idea how much they normally charge for the lowers? Thanks

if HONDA denied your claim it is due to the dealer. i had two replaced on my 06 and countless others here had theirs replaced free of charge. they wont do it forever mind you and the bike gets older then warranties go bye bye. are you that bad with thools that you had to pay someone to put on two plastic pieces that take 10mins total to install?

very big waste of money on labor for that.
