Lowered 1000RR
Have any of you had any problem with your bike being lowered. I lowered mine 2' and I had the unpleasant experience of my right clip on coming loose while installing some grips. Fortunatly I was not riding when it happened. When I investigated the reason for the clip on coming loose, I found that the fork has about a 3' taper from the top then widens back out. I raised it back up until I can figure out a way to make sure its more secure. Please let me know of any after market parts or suggestion.

RE: Lowered 1000RR
I think about 1.25-1.50" is the most you can lower the forks... even at that (or 2") for that matter, your front fender will be hitting the upper fairing at the top of suspension travel.
Some drag racers using lowering links (in the rear) have drug lower fairings and had tires run the undertail exhaust.
You can only go so low

RE: Lowered 1000RR
Im 5'9" and I don't like tip toeing to back out of parking spaces, thats the only reason I lowered it . as far as the handling is concern I have no problem handling my bike nor does my bike have a handling problem, so no thanks for the drag racing advise, then again I have only been riding for 16 years! It seems that some people on here are the next street Mat Mladin. good luck.

RE: Lowered 1000RR
I don't know if this will do you any good, and there is prob 10 guys on this forum that will tell you this is a bad idea, but it worked nicely for me. I lowered my 06 1krr for the same reason as you (5'9") and i got a lowering link for the back, but noticed the taper in the front fork would be a problem for lowering the front. I moved the clip-on from under the top of the tree to over it. It took a couple of hours to do, and had to adjust a couple of other things cuz of the windscreen hitting the brake and clutch resvs, but in all i lowered the front by about 1' or maybe a lil more, and brought the bars up to a much more comfortable position for me. Doing it that way also allowed the top of the tree, and the clip on be attached to the parts of the fork that are "full thickness" and not come loose. There is what i'm going to call a locator pin cast into the top of the clip-on that norm sits in the bottom of the top clamp to keep it (clip-on) from twisting, but after tightening the clip on, i was unable to move either of them, even w/pulling on em as hard as i can, so i think they are gonna stay put. Will be checking them from time to time, but i think its gonna work fine, and saved me the $300 i was planning on spending for the heli bars !! Love the look of the bike lowered too. Did have to shorten the stand, but thats not too hard to do. Needed a bigger foot on it anyway, to keep it from sinking into my driveway. PM me if you would like some pics. I tried to post a few, but keep getting file too large message. Can email em to ya tho.
