Default key code

Okay..

I lost both of my keys and the tag that had the key code on it....So.....

other than taking off the ignition... does anyone else know where i can locate the key code?

Secondly... does anyone know their key code? I'm only looking for the format of the code... not your key code. Help me out guys.....

Thanks

Should be able to contact the dealer and give them the VIN to have a key made. What bike and year, did you buy it new? The key code on my 600RR 05 is a five digit code. I'm guess, but is the code on the ignition switch anywhere? I know it wouldn't be in plain sight, but maybe on the bottom after you take it all apart?

oh yeah...

2005 CBR1000RR

I bought it new...

The dealer said the Vin isn't going to help.. i need the key code that is on the ignition itself. But in order to get that code off the ignition... i need to take it apart... i'm not good at taking things apart... actually, i am good at that part.. it's the putting stuff back together part that i have problems with.

So... what i'm trying to do here is find out if anyone knows of an alternative place i can find that key code.

Anyone... Anyone...

i lost the keys to a bike once (had both on same keychain-DOH!) and all i had to do was go to the dealer and tell them the vin and show proof of possesion. the title works for both and they cut me a couple keys. no big problems.

my tag that came with my keys is a 8 digit number it might be different for your bike than mine but i know u can get it off the ignition you might not have to tear it all apart just take a few peices off to get to the numbers or use a little mirror, think about it if it was easy anyone could get a key made for your bike and steal it.
