So I found today on craigslista 2006 blue and yellow cbr 1krr, with 3k miles on it, chrome rims and aftermarket exhaust(thats all i know for now), he says that is in perfect condition,
the catch is that the guy doesnt have the title for it, i told him that i'll need the VIN number to check it at police and said "yeah, ok..."
he is asking 4700
i was thinking to find a frame with title(do you guys know anyone?)
so I wanna know everyone;s opinion, should i go for it or no(and why)

well yeah, you're right, but i dont give him a penny before i check the VIN at police

 

there are plenty of reasons he doesnt have the title. get the info and check it before you make assumptions. 4700 does sound wayyy too good to be true but do your home work first

 

what else besides checking the VIN and testing the bike should i do?
i think for a bike without title 4700 isnt that awesome, dunno

 

get the vin # and check and see if its been reported stolen, get a look at the registration if you can and see whose name its in. get the plate # call dmv and ask them to see if the registration is current in the sellers name and if there is any liens on it.

4700 is an awesome deal for the bike you describe. and to get the title isnt that hard if all it is is really missing. in cali all you have to do is apply for a duplicate title , you provide the bill of sale and pay a fee . in MA it might be harder but i dont know thier laws off the top of my head.

 

well the reason that doesnt have the title - he says that he bought it from a guy who was moving away from area, and by the time to go to DMV he lost the title(so no registration either), in this case(if is true what he says) he cant get a duplicate unless he finds the real owner to do it
but who knows what the truth...

 

if he has a bill of sale from the guy he bought it from then he signs a bill of sale saying that he selling it to you along with his original bill of sale then you take those down to dmv and file for title of transfer/duplicate title. but do the things i told you to do first to find out if this guy even has legal right to be selling this bike.

if he does have a bill of sale with the previous owners info you could get that and even track down the previous owner just to make sure if you are really worried

 

unfortunately the DMV in mass wont take just bill of sale, title required, do that means that he does not have rights to sell, since doesnt have a title on his name
