Default Honda Warranty Parts Repair

My fellow Honda riders,

I would just like to inform you all that Honda Corp takes forever getting back order parts to you from Japan. I hadn't experience this prior to this summer riding season. I have an 06 Honda 1000RR, it has been at the dealer since 20 May of this year. What was what thought to be just a simple knocking noise turned into an entire engine rebuild. To make a long story short the repairs were under waranty and the parts have been on the slow freakn boat from Japan since 15 Aug 07. Today is 24 Sep 07. So incase any of you ever have to go through this just count on ur riding season being over before u want it to be. Oh yeah I'm trying so hard not to put some profanity on here about my situation. Ride safe...

How is your dealer's service? My wife dropped my CBR 1000RR early in thesummer and it took forever to get it back.(6weeks at the shop, I would have done it myself if I would have known.) It turned out that they were over booked in the shop and were just stringing me on until they fit it in there schedule orI got pissed and went to get it. Suprisingly, they said the parts came inthe day that I'd had enough! An insider at the shop told me that they do this all the time. They are always "waiting on parts".

That's pretty scary... Can you humor us with specifics? What kind of noises / symptoms did the bike exhibit, what was the dealer's diagnosis?

That surprises me because I laid my bike down in a corner in the middle of this summer. I took it back to the dealer to get the repairs done. It was all cosmetic s**t, but it was 5000$ damage including labor. The insurance picked up everything but the deductible. It took 1 ½ weeks from the time I took it there till the time I got it back. And I made sure it was OEM parts put on so it was like new again.

To add more to the story, I live in the D.C. MD, VA area, the shop I took my bike had a good rep with me, when I had my CBR929, even with it being 5 yrs old they had whatever part I needed. I normally do my own maintenance on my bikes. But this noise I was getting I couldn't pen point where or what it was. They initially ordered and replaced the teninsor by the clutch plates, but that didn't resolve the noise, well after playin phone tag with the honda tech line, they dealer came to the conclusion that it was the valves and they need CARBON BUILD UP, WRONG again, the bike only had 5300mi on it and Premium gas is all I use.I knew right then that I was getting the run around onthe problem. To make an even more long story shorter, the engine blew a rod when I got it back and took it for a test ride. So there went the engine and after weeks of back and forth as to whether or not it was going to be covered under the warranty, HONDA finally got off there butt and covered the repairs and the new engine. Of course I had to get my Attorney involved though. Although I have asked, I still have not recieved an answer from HONDA or the dealership as to why it happened in the first place. Yes, there was oil in the bike which makes it even more weird. I'm just praying that when I get my bike back finally it runs like its suppose to. Just really hoping the parts come in soon, as long as it doesn't snow here I can at least ride in the neighborhood during the winter months.

what did the noise sounds like. i can hear what apopears to be valve tick, and it seems to be louder upon initial start up and then quiets down after a few seconds of running. never completely goes away but does get quieter.

does your bike have any modifications?

The noise actually to me sound like it was a valve or maybe a head had cracked at first but it was hard to pin point where it was coming from. I have a 2Bros Valeslip-on, dbl bubble windscreen, flush mount front turn signals, integrated tail like signals. frame sliders. that pretty much it for now. Was going to order rear-sets but I haven't gotten the bike back as yet.
