Default Going to buy an '06 1000 RR tommorrow

I had to sell my SV-650 to get some cash for my move from Ohio to Florida...

Forget the story, here's the topic to discuss. I'm moving to Melbourne Florida from Ohio in 4 weeks and I'd like to buy my new 1000RR from a dealer here in Columbus. I've had bad experiences with dealerships and I'd like to buy it from someone I know.

I should be able to get 600 break-in miles before the trip, and have my first service done.

Do you think it is at all bad for the bike if I ride it 1000 miles in 2 days, so early in the life of the engine? 600 miles to 1600 miles in 2 days?

Thanks,

Guido

No, it'll be fine. People pamper these motors way too much.

How long do you think I should continue varying my RPMs? Is 600 miles enough? It's going to be hard to stay awake through northern Florida.

I have made that drive in a car and it is a LONG drive. I think your best option is renting a trailer. Your backside will be killing you by the time you get to Florida if you ride your new bike the entire way.

IMO- 600 miles should be fine. dont forget about the initial service (oil change). I would definately get that done before your trip.
