Default Flapper Modification - PC111 Map

I keep hearing about the airbox flapper mod. I assume it is basically removing the flapper door. What was the flapper door originally designed to do? Is it to reduce intake noise or was it designed to maintain a higher entry flow pressure by resrticking airfow at the lower speeds? What are the advantages of removing it? Anybody actually had a dyno run with and without?
I have a Two Brothers slip on, PC111 and K & N filters.
Also does anybody have a good PC 111 Map for this setup

1st of all throw the k&n filters in the trash!!! they hurt power, keep them for the car and out of your bike. 2nd, do the flapper mod and try out a few more maps. and check out 1000rr.net for a ton of maps you can use.

Thanks for the feedback on the 1000RR site.Found just the map I was lookin for. I will keep the K & N's though as I have run them for yeras and like them.

Even with all the maps out there, it may not be perfect. If you got a little extra cash, get the bike dynotuned. You'll notice the difference, just make sure the guy doing it knows what he is doing.
