The more I look at it, the more I am turned off. I think my silver 06 1000 looks better. I was going to trade it in for an 08, but I'll just add some mods until the next 1000 remake. If it doesn't get any better by then, I'll switch manufacturers.

I still like Honda (the 600s look awesome, so I know they can do better), but they seemed to miss the mark on the looks with the 1000. While the numbers may be appealing, I am in no way racing to realize their benefits anyhow.

^+1 I will gladly stick to my 07 that is no way near as good looking as my beast in the garage!! Probebly half a second faster on a race track but that's not making me even think about trading in!!!

Very good points.

You are right I see a lot of Army guys in the bike shops on week end looking to buy bikes. I never thought of it before but is that some kind of trend being in the Army & riding super bikes?

see the problem is this, they have no way to spend what little money they make while on duty, especially while on deployment, or while living on base they dont amke enough to afford a nice car....so bikes are the way to go...marines speciffically. Probably 5-6 years back when my friends started getting out of 4 and 8 year contracts alot of them bought busa's or ducatti's....sorry....those are WAY TOO MUCH bike for a first timer....hell i don't even like riding my neighbors busa...even with the extended swingarm, i've had it "come up on me" well into third gear....ok ok this is becomming a totally seperate thread and its going to be posted as such in off topic, look for it later....

That's not it at all. I'm in the Army and I'm about to deploy to Iraq and I will be grabbing up a new 1000RR when I get back in country!!!! I ride a CBR600 now, so I am not a first time rider, but I do agree that dealerships should be more responsible in selling bikes to new riders. My 600 was the first bike I owned and my dealer told me that was the biggest displacement they would sell me because I was a new rider. As for why Army members buy these big bikes when they come back, it is because they have too much money (1 year plus with nothing to spend your cash on) and all the hype in magazines, tv, and bike riders is about liter bikes or bigger. They don't know ****e about motorcycles, but want something cool and fast and all anyone talks about are liter bikes. So imagine you have just spent a minimum of one year locked up with explosions going off around you and you can't spend any of your money. When you are finally freed all you know is that you need constant adrenaline rushes and you have $30,000 or more in cash to get your fix. What are you going to buy the 600 (which no one talks about) or the 1000?

Those are some big turn signals. From the images they appear slightly smaller than the headlights. To bad for the people who like to run without rear view mirrors (not me, but it is legal in Missouri). I bet it's going to cost alot to change out that exhaust as well. Kinda sucks for anyone wanting to do a PC3 w/ exhaust on a '08 I bet it's gonna cost alot. I like the black version with the powdercoated pegs, but good luck getting one of the 500 made. I'm glad they moved the brake fluid holder and it looks like it might have fewer fairing bolts as well. I will wait to see what they come out with in 2010 before I get rid of my '06....

Those integrated signals are so much better than the circa 1980's signal/slider Honda has been using. No one needs to ride without mirrors on the street anyway. For the track riders it kills two birds with one stone.
