Coolant flush Q? Green to blue
Hey gang, So I am flushing the radiator after my 05 cbr 1000 blew a seal and leaked hot all over the bike. I have replaced the hose and flushed the rest out. (A lovely neon hulk green) and opened up the new fuchs quart to see that it was blue. So,
Will changing the color of the coolant hurt the internals?
It is older, purchased used this summer with 5k, now at 10k; and havent touched the radiator since i bought it.
Also this oil is premixed so not sure how much more I want to dilute it.
I ride a lot and getting her up in the red has been quite normal. will this make a difference?

Its not the color you need to worry about, its the actual make up of the coolant. Look up what specifications are required for the coolant for your bike and make sure the new coolant meets those standards. edit: I just looked it up.. the service manual calls out for an Ethylene Glycol base solution with corrosion protection inhibitors at a 1:1 ratio of coolant and distilled water. So your 50/50 mix should be fine as long as its the proper coolant.
when you say oil is diluted, Im assuming you meant to say coolant, and you really shouldn't dilute anymore. If its already at a 50/50 mix, that is the ideal mix for most coolant systems.
as for getting it up in the red. I'm assuming you mean its just running hot since your bike should have a digital temp gauge. But these bikes do run hot. Slow moving traffic can have it running 220 deg's in no time. As long as your not exceeding 230, your bike is operating normally. If its climbing higher than that, you may have to look a bit deeper if the new coolant doesn't fix it. But again, these bikes run hot anyway.
