NO....I took mine off by lifting up the gas tank rather than just cut them. But its up to you, you can cut them. I have a Jardine slip on and it only took me 2 1/2 hours to install because I did the gas tank too.

Have fun man

Its a servo motor, just unhook the cables at each end and your good to go. There should a plate with two screws, remove that, and you will have access to the motor side of the cable. Than follow the other end up and unhook, I have my cables intact and sitting in a box with the heat shield.
Don't cut em, thats dirty!!

The box is an exhaust valve that opes n closes depending on the revs and speed you do, the cables make it move. the other end is attached to a servo motor, take the cables out. It`s a 10 min job, but the important thing is at the servo end (to the left under your fuel tank as you would sit on the bike) mark the position of where the servo is before you start, because it has to be returned to the starting position to avoid getting the Fi Light.

Stock stuff? Try Ronayers.com they seem to be reasonable it the same bodywork as your U.S stuff, just with an extra sticker on sayin Fireblade. nIf you want the sticker i could probably organise finding a price from a UK Dealer for you.
