CBR 1000 vs Harley Vrod
HD dealers brag these bikes up BIG TIME to performance oriented HD customers....They fill their head with horse manure just to get their $20+K. To the avid harley rider that Porsche engine is the shiznik...it's way smoother than the evo's and rev's 10X faster. HOWEVER, I can tell you from first hand experience, as I hang around many, many HD riders and take their money all day long racing them....I have'nt found one fast enough to hang with my 06 1K RR yet, At least one that has'nt had a billion dollars in engine mods. I did race a 200 inch aftermarket chopper that crushed me till I got in third..but after about the 120MPH mark it was all over for him. I beat him in the quarter mile by about four bikes. These guys that spent $20+K for a bike need something to make it seem worth it so they talk them up...Aftr finding out your $10K machine killed him, he'll be pissed for a while...but they get over it, trust me if he beats you stock for stock...you must have stopped for gas in the middle of the race.
Bax, that must have been one UGLY modded V-Rod.....I never seen one go 10 fives.

yeah i had to search hard to find that one
from a roll
there is no way it could keep up with any japanese bike
(or italian) for that matter
it is just too heavy
but at a drag strip inexperienced riders normally put down 11s
if you have the distance you have the sheer hp to weight ratio to kill him

Hello,
Longtime reader first time replying. I own a 2006 cbr1000rr and a 2004 vrod. Comparing the two is comparing a Ford Mustang to a Ferrari. Both are quick, but cbr is much faster and is able to handle much better. The vrod was my first bike and I quickly learned it handled like a pig in rush hour traffic, but it has same characteristics as an american musclecar, it can go faster in a straightline. However, at least, my is faster in a straight, but it is fast in the corner, thru the corner, and out of the corner(just like european sportscar). Harley Davidson did build fast power cruiser and said that they sacraficed function over style, however, I believe this to be the contary. On the hand the cbr1000rr is all function is a better street weapon. Thats why the cbr1000rr is my daily driver and my vrod is a weekend warrior.

Sorry, for taking so long to write back. we went riding all weekend, and just to set the record straight now. The VRod is no comparison to the 1krr..... when we first went out to ride we got rolling about 35mph and he goosed the vrod and lets just say, when i opened up the 1krr and got to 90mph, there was no sign of the Vrod. Damn, HONDA makes a great bike. Thanks for all the replies.
My friend and I ride on weekends and at lunch hour during work. He has an 03 V-Rod and I have an 05 RR. The V-Rod puts up impressive numbers for a Harley and has great pull. It has a fantastic engine and has a high rev powerband (for a twin). However, there is simply no comparison between our bikes and a V-Rod. A V-Rod is a muscle cruiser built to outrun other cruisers. Its long, low body and poor lean angles don't even make it the best handling cruiser (Yamaha Warrior). On many occasions my buddy tries to keep up and I can pull away with ease. Under most circumstances I can turn him into a speck in my rear-views within 15 seconds.
It is mostly an issue with the Harley having an inferior power to weight ratio. My guess is that his bike scales in at 650 lbs and would need over 200 HP to even have a chance. Around corners it is not even a contest.
It is an unfair fight like if we were comparing the two for passenger comfort. But to think of it I don't mind an unfair fight. Maybe I will kick his *** again tomorrow.

I rented an '04 VROD when I was out in Vegas this past June. It was certainly quick and handled nice for a cruiser, but I have to say that I was not all that impressed. I really was expecting more out of it. And I am only on an F4i, so that's what I am comparing it to. I know that the numbers say that it should give me a run for my money, and perhaps it can, but I went from the F4i, to the Street Rod for a few days and then back, and I didn't think it had lived up to the hype.
It;s certainly a nice bike, but not worth the money. I would rather have a Yami Warrior and take the money I saved and put the Stage 3 performance kit in it for like 103HP and 120ft/lbs of torque.
