Hmm...well, I'd say that one of Evander Holyfield's ears are worse than others - the one Mike Tyson partially bit off in a boxing match.

Ahh but seriously, it all depends on what appeals to you. The pre 08s had an undertail exhaust. Honda did a complete makeover with the 08+, going to a side moto GP style exhaust and smaller, faster and lighter overall. Honda then won the superbike smackdown the next two years with their makeover, barely losing out this year to the new BMW, which is apparently more hype on paper than it is on the track.

You'll probably read warnings about the 08s being oil burners. While that was a problem with some it is not nearly as widespread as what some people claim. I'd say about 5% of the 08 models have the oil burning problem.

Have fun in your searching and welcome to the forum.

Outlaw26,
I had a 2006 that I bought bran new and I really regret that I sold it at the end of the season, last year.
Built like a tank, ultra stable, more power than you will ever need, fit and finish second to none, once dialed-in to your weight and riding style suspension is awesome and gives you a great, great handling, best steering damper in the business (in fact, you will never notice that it is actually doing it's job except that you will never have a tank slapper). Can't go wrong with a CBR.
If you have the dough for the newest generation, for sure go for it. Otherwise, the '06-'07 iteration is a fantastic motorcycle too! Just have it thouroughly inspected to make sure everything is in order and have fun, you won't be sorry.
Personally, I will likely buy a 2009 or 2010 with the ABS system. This specific ABS system redefines what an ABS system should be and apparently outperforms any ABS system out there. The only thing holding me right now is the thought that Honda might very well come up with a new generation of CBR1000RR for 2011 and given what the current bike is, it is safe to assume the new one will be a mind blowing motorcycle!
Have fun!
Pat
