Default CBR 1000 or 600?

Hi Guys,
I was going to get a CBR600 for canyons, track, and WERA. Now I'm thinking an '08 CBR1000 for all the above.
I'm leaning towards the 1k because I think I'd get more use out of it.
What do you think?

You'd have a better chance pushing the 600 to the limit, than you would the 1000.

If I were to do it all over again, I'd go with a 600. I ride the 1000 on both street and track, and quite honestly, it's a handful on the track and tires you out quickly. Don't get me wrong, I love it and it's a great bike, but once you start opening it up on the track the rear get's a little loose once in a while and requires a lot more force to corner.

I just upgraded form a R6 to my cbr 1000, and as far as the street goes i really like the comfort/stability of the 1000, the power is always there, you don't have to downshift 2-3gears like on a 600 to get power, just crack the throttle and the power is always there. As far as weight and beeing tired? your only talking extra 30 LBS or so, so depending on your size if your closer to the 180-200 mark you won't notice much of a difference.

on the track i can see wanting to be on the 600, you can opener' up and really use all the bike's power band and not have to worry as much about wheel spin looseness in the corners.

IMHO... buy a new 1000 now and ride it good and hard, then find a decent track bike/salvageable /rebuilt title 600 if you find your self getting bored and not satisfying your needs for the track.

A new '08 1000RR should feel almost like a 600, with alot more torque of course. I was on a 600RR before I bought my 1000, and I don't feel too much of a difference in handling. I would love to go to a track and whip this thing around and yes, on a liter-bike, you must be very precise with the throttle, coming out of a corner. The '07 and '08 600RR would be a perfect track bike, I'm sure.

Thanks for response guys.
I'll be renting a CBR600 in a couple of weeks from Sport Bike Rentals for a track day at Fontana. They don't rent liter bikes, but I'll have a better idea about the 600 after that day.

good choice to rent and then determine where to go from there.. i had my 1k on the track before and it sure was a lot to push, pull into the turns and I remembered thinkin "if only I had a 600".....good luck
