Default bike lift

Hello all,

Im thinking of getting my boyfriend a motorcycle lift for christmas. He has a 1000rr and I have a f4i. I really know nothing about these lifts, dont want to get him some piece of shiiiit. I would welcome any advise and information that you may have. I have looked at a couple on e-bay, huge price differences, but not sure about the real difference in product.

You may even want to call around to local dealers and see what they use in their service depts. and how they like them or where to get them too.
Or are you talking about the back/front service stands?
If you just mean the stands, then I'd look into the PitBull stands. A little pricey but you should be able to get a set for $275-300. I really like mine - excellent quality.

thanks for your reply, I am talking about a full lift with a drop down plate?, not just stands. I will check with our local dealer, thanks for that suggestion.

This is maybe not much help for you. This is one producer in Italy. http://www.bikelift.it/
You can find many. Myself is using a cheap one. Se picture. Its costs about 450 dollar here.(Sweden)
It is not good for pros but work well for me.

Seems to me you'd still need a front and rear stand to remove the wheels. I like the LP stands ... reasonably priced and I've been through 3 bikes with the same stands.

I did see a decent lift at a bike show last year. Had a place to attach a drill motor and that raised/lowered it. They also had hydraulic models ... basically the same contraption but about $500 more.

I like the one Hazze showed. The Panther one, is a sissors style that will groove into your cement floor the way it is set up, the other one will not. I built one, kind of like the one showed by Hazze. I then will use the lifts like L-P, Pit Bull, etc. to remove wheels, etc. It sure is nice to run them up on the rack to wax and maintain from a bar stool, then laying on the ground.

We use Handy Lifts in our dealership. We have 6 of them and they all work wonderfully. I can see where the wheels, over a long period of time could possibly wear into the concrete, but we have rubber mat covering our floor, so no problems there. The Handy lift looks just like the Panther lift. Coincidence?
