'92 600f2 to an '07 1000rr-what to expect?
i've had my f2 for almost 12 years now and i'm finally ready for a new bike. i'm just curious how much of a jump it will be. i love to corner on my 600, and have had it up to about 145, yeah i had a big grin but i'm no speed junkie that needs it all the time. occasionally under the right conditions though. i like little wheelies but not facing the clouds at 80 mph either. i'm sure i won't be dissapointed in the 1000's performance, but i don't want to go overboard either. i don't need extreme speed or power all the time, but when i want it, i want it to be at my fingertips. just to use it, not abuse it. any input would be greatly appreciated .

i jumped ship from a 97F3 to an 04 1000rr. best decision i made. but i rode my friends 04 R1, so that helped my decision alot also.
keep that wrist from twisting too much and you will be fine. i couldnt be happier with my 1000rr. i also track it as well and wouldnt even dream of getting back on another 600. even tho my 1000 weighs more than the 600, im getting used to flicking it thru the S's. just becareful on exiting corners and grabbing a bit too much throttle on cold tires. had my rear sliding pretty damn good on an exit before the straight away. woo hoo for power slides.

thanks for the replies guys. i wasdebating about sticking with the 600 or going for the 1000. the thing is, i've been through this b-4 with quads. i bought a new blaster cuz that's what my buds had, or something of about the same speed which seemedgreat at the time. well it wasn't long till i traded it on a banshee which also now has several mods that push it way over stock performance. but of course still leaving me wanting more. i just don't want to look back and say yep, i should have bought a 1000. it's not about riding buddies' rides or being king of the hill either. my 600 will already smoke anybody that i ride with. i just always imagined that if i invest in a new ride it would be bigger and better, with no regrets.
alsothedealer has one red, one silver and one black on sale for $9999.00 - msrp is $11,499.- minus at least $1300 for my bike(without them seeing it)i didn't ask about the 600's but i hate to pass up the opportunity onthe 1000 deal. i figured i don't have to use all that power all the time but it's there if i want it. i'm leaning toward the blacktoo. i can finance one for 5.7% interest at my bank also.

I say go for the 1000. Not because you need a bike that can do 9 second1/4 miles, but because the low end torque of the literbikes is soooo nice.A twist of the wristat almost any RPM results in more than ample forward propulsion. Afterbeing accustomed to my '98 ZX-9R, I rode my friend's '97 CBR600 and was shocked at the lack of low and mid range power. Modern 600s are likely to be an improvement but still, they won't compare to a liter bike.
Earlier this spring I had a 0-40MPH mini drag race (up a hill) with a guy on an R6. He didn't bother to slip the clutch enough on the launch and as a result, my 4150 lb. 4Runner ran side by side with this guy the whole time. He had the throttle absolutely pinned. I thought it was hilarious.

Yep, agreed with what everyone says, I switched from the 97F3 to an 2007 Black 1000RR...You wont notice the difference, no big deal, just a whole lot smoother and fast enough to make your head chug....but in the end....you'll wonder what the whole big deal was about.

won't notice a difference, no big deal? you mean in handling or with accelleration or what? i'm sure there is a significant difference after riding with my friends that had a cbr929 and a gsxr1100 a few years ago.
by the way, i looked into insurance and of course i expected it to go up, maybe even double what i'm paying now. well it's over 3x what i'm paying now!! lol. granted that's with my banshee on the same policy, but they quoted me at $1532/yr - full coverage. is that outrageous or actually common for a liter bike?
