can't say that, never owned a 600; sounds to me like you've pretty much decided on the 1kRR...so if you can afford it, buy it....that's what i'd do, actually just did and I am completely satisfied; now you just have to decide on the color; i bought the silver. Originally I wanted the black, but to get the deal, I had to buy a bike on the sales floor and they had silver, red/black, and blue/yellow; they all look sweet, but the silver looked cleaner to me....get the bike you want and you'll be happy!!!

I know I can practice wrist restraint....that won't be a problem. The other downfall of buying a 600 (talking to 1000 owners), would be that I would lose money trading or selling to upgrade to the 1000. That's assuming that I got "comfortable" with the smaller bike and wanted more low end torque....which is what I would prefer anyways. This is just like cars.....no one buys them for the top end....they want the fastest 1/4 mi, best looking, sports car they can afford. The top end is nice to know, but I know I'll never experience it. Is there anyone out there that wishes they had never bought the 1000 and had kept their 600? Is this a "stupid" question?
Honestly, if you go with the 1000rr, you will run the initial risk of being ham fisted. But once you learn to ride the bike (since you said you have prior riding experience) you should be fine.

The 600 is fast as well, but if you commute alot, you may get tired of spinning the gears so high, its pretty buzzy up there. I love 600s and they actually are faster on the track/canyon for the average rider because they allow you to use way more wrist and have alot of fun ringing them out without the same worries you would on a 1000.

I think, in all honesty, the best solution would be to buy a used 600. Keep that till you get at least 5K under your belt with it, then sell it for pretty much what you bought it for and go buy the 1000 at that time.

If you can afford this, It's really the best way to go. You wont lose money if you buy the 600 for a good price and you'll have a better understanding of Street riding to hop onto the 1000. That way when you do get the 1G, you'll be able to have more fun on it.

My first bike was a 600 and just like everyone else they thought it was the best thing going ( no disrespect to anyone out there with 600) but there is no replacement for displacement,
I'm sorry but i hate that line, it simply isn't true. The BIGGEST factor with our bikes here is Rider Skill/ability.

Cbr6rr/gsx6r/r6/kawi636 > Katana 750
Gsx750r > honda cb919

I know the Liter bikes can obviously walk on the 6's.

This what happened to me. Bought a brand spanking Kwak ZX6R 636cc. with 60 km on the clock. 6 weeks later i was back in the shop trading it in for the CBR 1000RR Repsol and never looked back since. I tell you i was also new to biking. IMO the 1000 is actually easier to ride than the 600. 1000 has torque all over the place. So it basically a twist and go bike. The 600 is frantic, you always dancing up and down the gearbox. And acceleration on the 600 is actually faster than the 1000. Until about 100km/h and then the grunt of the 1000 takes over. The 1000 is ok for a newbie. As they will be scared ****less every time they mount and will have respect. So get the 1000. you will never ever regret. I know coz i have done it!!!!

im 29 years old and started riding when i was 3. i rode constantly (dirtbikes and an old 750 streetbike) till i was 14. i then took a 14 year break from all motor vehicles(except cars) till i hit 28. decided last july i was going to get a new bike and on july 27 2005 bought a 2005 cbr1000rr new from a local dealer. took my license test (on it) 1.5 months later and passed with a 97% (lost 3 points from back tire nicking a cone). my best friend bought a 2005 r6 7 days after i got mine. i rode his bike a couple times (very agressively) and i have to say its a very fun bike to ride. all in all though, get the 1k. you will have no regrets what-so-ever (long as u can afford it) i promise. the 1k is the Total Package, no ifs ands or buts. good luck and happy riding. it appears that it doesn't take very long to get "accustomed/ comfortable" to the 600. i've read it again, the 600 accelerates/ feels about the same as the 1000 when you keep it under 60 mph? though, i've heard that you can feel the difference in torque between the two bikes when you have a passenger.

i could tell a big difference between the 600 & 1000 while riding with a passenger.

hey - just remember your in a 1000RR forum section, so your getting opinions from 1K riders. i'm a 600 fan, even tho a 1000 would be awesome to have.

my hear say? well a 600 dry-weight is a bit less then a 1000 even tho you will not even notice it. from what I heard around the block 600's have the handling down compared to 1000's, i mean it just make sense you can push the bike easier compared to a 1000.

( as seen here - http://www.southernhonda.com/new_veh...h2=23735&go=Go)

the aspects of the bike are very similiar but also have alot in different (especially the price difference haha) But behind the specs, 600's have the best acceleration and handling compared to 1000's but the 1000s have the top-end. Well I just found out in Vegas we got "motorcycle renters" here - which is funny, but hey - if you cant understand it verbally, get a bike for the day (if there are maybe rentals by where you live, i never heard of a biker renter tho before intill now haha) - or maybe ask some friends if you can just test drive theirs for a bit..

but ok, the verdict from a 600 fan - if i could, i would get the 1000 haha.. you really dont feel the acceleration difference and if your a big guy (or maybe got some powerful legs) you can make the handling... go to the dealership, sit on the bikes - ask tons of questions, figure what is comfortable - and in the end, if you get the 1000RR and you dont like it - you can sell it for almost the same amount you bought it from (as long as you didnt get ripped from the dealership) and then get a new 600RR. you will know if it doesn't feel right tho.

Good luck with the new bike (and watch out for the sharks. AKA salesman)

Get the 1000RR simply because you can buy one for $8983 plus tax from Southern Honda. Damn, how do they do that?

I also have to say I own both a 2005 600RR and a 2006 1000RR and my 06 1000RR handles A LOT BETTER, WORLDS BETTER, LIKE NIGHT AND DAY BETTER, (did I say better?) then my 600RR! The 1000RR also accelerates a lot more powerful and harder then the 600 and the power comes on a lot sooner in the RPM range.
