I just moved up from a CBR600F4i to a CBR1000RR.

For me.... the difference is the effortless acceleration. I dont stunt. I dont race. I dont ride the bike like I stole it. I just love having the acceleration there when I want it... and the bike does have a better 'feel' to it...for me.

Not crapping on the 600's... they are great bikes. ...but I love my 1000.

 

I havent posted a reply since I was just looking for 1000 owners inputs since all i ever hear are what 600 riders have to say about why they prefer them over liter bikes sooo ive just been reading everyones opinions thats all, im trying to hear what everyone else has to say. I have no input of my own really, ive never rode a 1000 but i plan on owning one at some point so i was curious. Im young and slightly wreckless so once i ride my f4i for another couple years and start to want more power and more speed ill make the jump when i feel im ready.

 

Good plan. Build your skills up on the 600 then move up. The displacement ladder used to have more steps...the 750 class has all but disappeared. The litre bike is a major step in power, not unmanageable but definitely needing respect.

 

Yeah ive looked into stepping up to a gixxer 750 first but i figured its just an unnecessary step to ride that for a few years then finally move up to a 1000. Id rather get my riding skills down then move right up to the liter bike.
Ive been into bikes way before i was even old enough to drive. I used to always watch moto gp and had subscriptions to a couple motorcycle magazines, always had a respect for these machines and knew the dangers. I wanted to get one back in high school but that didnt work out and for a while i considered starting right on a 1000 thinking that if i could learn that i could ride anything. I used to ride quads and be a serious mountain biker at the time and thought id be fine. But luckily i snapped out of that logic way before i ever started looking for a bike. I never considered the handling/size/weight/learning curve/etc between the 600 and 1000s until the time came to buy one and i realized how much i wouldve regretted doing that.

 

The gixxer 750 isn't really much of a step from the F4i. I've had two of them...
I also started in the dirt and made stops started from 100cc to 250cc, 750 cruiser, 350 two stroke, 600cc inline four, 750cc triple, 800cc boxer, 883 and 80 inch harley, several 600cc, 750cc inline four and 1000cc. The climb up the ladder has been fun, but each step offered its own lessons.
Don't be in a hurry to jump to the end.

 

I sold my 08 CBR 600rr about a year ago.I would average 34.7 miles per gal with that bike.
Now I have an 09 CBR 1000rr,and I average 43.4 miles per gal,with the same riding style.After owning the 1000rr,theres now way in hell I would ever buy another 600.The reason I sold the 600rr and bought a 1000rr is because the 600rr just didnt thrill me anymore.Just my 2 cents

I stayed away from the debate side of things. My opinion should be well known by now. But...
I loathe hearing that statement. It's the same reason people get "bored" with a 600. There's only 2 "thrills" a liter has over a 600: speed and acceleration. My opinion on that type of thrillseeking: Buy a faster car.

 

Thats 2 thrills more than I had with the 600,and I ride a sportbike for the thrill
Why buy a faster car,its way cheaper to buy a faster motorcycle.
