600 or 1000

You'd have some $$$ leftover if you bought the 1000RR I saw on www.wowmotorcycles.com that I came across when searching for a Repsol. The other 1000RR's are near the $9K to $9.5 zone which is more savings in the end.
I think it was $9,790 approx for the Repsol and they're located in Atlanta. Kind of a drive for you, but they seem to have a decent inventory! If you wait until the new year rolls in I'm sure prices will drop a little more, but don't wait after March/April when the Spring Fever starts in and prices start to rise again! Good luck on your purchase if you jump up to the 1K editions.

I agree, get a 1K. That way you will have a bike that can give you a challenge in bone stock form and that way when the time comes that you can get down with it, your payments will almost be up and you can plan your hop ups....
Hi,
I own a 03 CBR 600RR (with static sag done some 15 months later) and a 05 CBR 1000RR (stock). My opinion is simply that the 1000 is the one to have.
Excluding the torque/power which is obvious, it beats the 600 in all manner of things - as a stock! You'd think it'd be awkward in some area(s) but it is not so.
You can still 'flick it'. Better fuel economy whether you pushed it or not (17/kpl? vs 18/kpl - only 12/kpl, when pushed). More manoeuvrable/fluid. Sensed the lower centre of gravity. More of the feet on the ground even though it is of the same height according to specs (cut/shape of seat). Only 'downside', if you can call it that, is it doesn't like slow/tight corners re use of brakes - as I try to avoid using brakes, for my own reasons. Engine braking is not as effective as a 600 in such situation/comparison as a 600 can be controlled better via the throttle. Can feel extra tyre on the road. Real downside? No real fuel gauge compared to the 600's.
Don't waste time and money doing a 600 up. Still no comparison as a bike re inherent torque/power.
Cheers.
Oh, thinks I had my first headshake - glad for the built in mechanism. Has the 600 or other brand got it? I'll copy and post this on the 600 site so others can read if they missed it?

For what it's worth, I have had a 600 ('99 R6) and it was an AWESOME bike. Plenty fast and as comfortable as a sport can be. I did find though that on most of the rides I did, don't know your situation, my butt was numb, in short order, from the vibration of the higher RPM the bike had to maintain to keep pace with my buddy on his 1000. Now I have my 1000 and I don't have this problem. Sure, my butt still hurts after a ride but that's because of what the sports are, not very comfy. As for the wife, don't think she will be comfy as the passenger on anything other than a cruiser. I had to spend cash on a used cruiser ( Shadow 750) to keep her happy. Hope this helped. By the way, RC51, sweet bike. A friend has one and it is too cool. Honda of High Point, NC. still has a brand new Hayden replica and the price is down to like $9799 I think. Good luck on your decision!!
