205 on a cbr1k? I call BS. I dont think they even make a turbo for our bikes yet. And if it was an RC 51 there is no way in hell its gettin close to 200mph. Ive seen busa's wit nitro on them and they dont even get 200mph in the quarter and thats not a "light mod" (granted they do tend to finish the quarter fast as ****e).

From what I've heard, the speed guns that cops use have an error limit of around 10% (this argument would actually stand up in court...hence the "assumed" +10 mile leevay that they usually give motorists). So the actual speed could be 180 mph on the lower side.

There are about a gajillion different models of Radar and Laser speed mesurement devices.

Most radars are +/_ 1mph.

More than likely in this case the speed was estimated by stopwatch from an aircraft. This leaves room for human error.

Well i dont know much bout the 954 but i highly doubt that either bike is gonna get 200mph in the 1/4. Im sure that the 1k might get it after doin some extensive work, but not wit "light mods" or in 1/4 mile, just not enough road. And if u know someone that can i would like to c it for my own eyes

Not to start anything just pointing out the misinterpretation(sp?)...Bikes like ours including the busa do not hit their top end in the quarter mile so thats completly different. The report is stating that he hit the mile markers on the highway which are spaced a 1/4mile apiece at a given time which caculated to be the given speed. See what i mean? So in theory like stated above a bike might not necessarily reach it's top speed instantly but given a good Stretch of road it has potential.

As for my call on the 205mph i really have no idea.

I dont doubt one bit the speedo said that........however ALL bikes after 2000 are limited to 186mph. It's called the gentlemans act. Sorry to burst your bubble, but even IF you stopped accelerating, you are still off by 14mph.

you guys realize that the difference between 150 and 200 is NOTHING like the difference between 100 and 150. There are EXPONENTIAL increases in force put on the bike by the wind, the amount of power required to go that fast climbs tremendously. Theres a reason theres not many cars that will do 200, there are probably alot more bikes that *could* do it, but like i said your going to invest alot of money in getting there.
