RE: 2008 v4 fireblade
But doubtful, I don't see them changing to a V4, none of the other Jap manufacturers are going that way. I see them doing similar changes like the CBR600RR. They have a V4 motor in the RC51 and it does not match the power of the CBR1000RR. The Ducati 1098 can't match the power of the Jap bikes either, look at the recent Superbike tests. The V4's seem to be good for midrange power and torque. The overall package does not seem that good for the V4's, powerwise anyway. The 2007 CBR600RR seems to be the right all around package according to the tester's. I see the 2008 CBR1000RR going in that same direction. If it worked for the 600RR it we work for the 1000RR.
Just my Opinion.

The RC51is a V2...... twin cylinder...not v4......the VFR800 interceptor is a v4
+1 on following the changes to the 600....hopefully Honda Avoids putting the huge Ram-Air Hole in the middle of the nose...would be nice to see them do something flowing like a twin intake under the headlights....
we'll find out for sure in september when they show it at the dealer convention
