I pasted the two pics side by side and they really aren't that much different on side profiles other than the cut-away smaller faring on the 06. The frame looks identical. I like the 06 exhaust better, the 05 fairing better. For 07, they should take the slimmer 06 fairing and make it fully covered like the 05, but keep the lighter front end of the 06 fairing. As for power and handling the 04, 05 and 06 are close enough in performance to be equal in the hands of 99% of riders and by the time mods are performed, the differences are diminished further. I'll wait for the V5 GP version before I move up from my 05 model. Still prefer the Hondas over the other brands for rideability and quality.

I know what I think, had a choice between a new 05 and an 06; and I bought the 06; contrary to what some people think, Honda really did do some serious work for the 06; and this isn't meant to dog anyone with an 04/05; I really think the single biggest change they made was too the weight...the 06 is not only literally lighter, but i really feels lighter; vibration is minimal, and the larger rotors improved braking by a noticable amount. There are so many upgrades to the bike for 06, that I simply couldn't pass it up. The only downside to the 06 right now is the aftermarket; most aftermarket mfg's still only list their parts for the 04/05; some will still work on the 06, some will not; I'm sure by the fall most mfgs' will have everything available, but I am growing impatient.....I want it all now.....

i have the 06 and i like it better than the 04/05 but thats not saying much. Im sure i will like the 07 or the 08 better than my 06. its change to the bikes to make them better and every bike changes just about every year. one thing i know is i still like the 04/05 better than the zx10 or the gixer. 04/05/06 are all super sexy and bad azz bikes and I like them all. lets just say i love the CBR 1000 RR it is sweeeeet and glad to be part of the club.

Long live the 1krr...or at least till honda up's the ante again...i'm thinking that the 07 will be more refined, but i'll bet the 08's will simply be insane; unless of course the powers to be finally realize what we are buying for under 12k and ban them.....hell they don't even let porsche, mercedes etc in the us without a 155 top speed...even though its only suggested and not a law, most comply....

Most anyone who ponies up the $$ for a car that can do insane speeds and is limited, get said limiter removed. I would imagine this would hold the same for sportbikes in the event that big gubment decided to start regulating. There are infinite ways to circumvent the system when you apply yourself
