I did a little searching and this seems to be a common issue for 08/09 1000rr's. I just got back from about 1500 miles in 2.5 days, riding the mountains in British Columbia, Canada. Just before the trip I did an oil change and followed the Honda instructions (ie. top up, idle for a few min, turn off, let sit straight up for 2-3 min, check window). I have only owned the bike for about a month, and mean while it hasn't burnt any oil (around the city - riding easy). After this trip I am down 1qt in 1500 miles. This seems like a lot to me or am I just being paranoid? I was riding pretty hard (80-100mph), 7-10,000rpm constantly in between fuel stops. There is 12,000 miles on the bike.
