As I've posted here before. . I move froma a Ninja 500 (a very nice commuter bike) to a CBR900RR and I didn't have any problems. Sorry guys, but my 900 puts out a bit more power than new 600's and I learned. Give the guy a chance. . .he will catch on quickly. Why did I move up? I was tired of only getting about 125MPH out of the 500 and needed more speed. I'm a speed demon. . what can I say.

Trust me. . .the extra HP isn't that bad and quite frankly, comes in handy. He WILL get use to it provided that he follows the golden rule. . .*RESPECT* the bike.

i'm sort of considering the 600RR now since the 1kRR is scaring the life out of me even though i havn't rode it. I've taken the MSF class, but the superbike class sounds interesting.
They're great, extremely fun and you learn SO much more than you ever thought you would. California Superbike School meets at various tracks and brings their own equipment and bikes (though, sadly they're ZX-6R's......but they, it's their tires, not mine.)

I would look into it, especially if you're considering attending track days.

And sorry if some of us are making you weary of the 1000's, but they are a LOT of bike......same goes for the 600RR's (especially the 07's so I've heard.) But like many on here have already said.....you respect the bike and learn it thoroughly, you'll be fine on the 1000. If you do end up taking the superbike school, you'll really find out what a 600 can do. (and they DO a lot more than people give them credit for).

Well, I have my 600RR and I love it to death, however, seeing that I'm a big boy too (6'0, 235lbs) there are times I wish I had a 1KRR for the extra grunt and not having to work it as much. Maybe its just in my mind but it seems to bog down alot unless I keep on it. I do plan on getting a 1KRR one day, and keep the 600 for a track bike, but as of now the budget wont allow it. So, for now I just have to make do, lose about 35lbs, and Im sure it will seem much faster. I also console myself with the fact that I can get alot more out of my 600 than a 1000, and its nice to be able to work it through the gears and get it revv'ing.

As far as the 1KRR goes keep in mind what some riders, particularly MotoGP riders, have to say about liter bikes. In general, a large number of them think its crazy that people will attempt to ride them at the upper limits on a public street. Even Rossi has said that he prefers to ride his FJ on the street as traffic is dangerous and he'd get himself in too much trouble.

Get what you want. I agree with the one guy "fear keeps us alive" so when i hear you say the 1k scares you then i think you'll be fine. better than if you weren't scared. my .02. Just act like Aretha Franklin on it.

hi i'm new to the forum. I was wondering if a 1KRR is too much for me to handle? I'm currently 5'11 1/2 and weight at 240 (big ****), I currently have a 05 ninja 500 that i've been riding for 8 months (ride everyday to work, school and everywhere except when it rains). I was considering something around the range of 750 or 1000cc. I have had an experience with a 600cc but anything else greater i havn't rode. I always ride safe, gear up always except for boots, I wear my air force one which cover my ankles. Thanks for your input.
Try to see if anyone will let you take a test ride on a bigger bike.. 750 or 1k either way you'll be fine, weight is ireelevant as i weigh more than you and am fine on my 06 R6.. have had 1k bikes for a while went to a 600 for the fun factor..a 750 sounds like a good trade up for you..good luck

Sit on a bunch of different bikes and see which one you can see yourself riding for long periods of time in relative comfort.
