My definition of OTD price is what you pay to the dealer when you pick up you bike and
take it "out the door". The price at Abernathys is as it is advertised. No set-up, documentation,
paperwork fees or any other charges. I brought them a money order for 8484 they gave me
a bike.

 

Honda of Chanute has 06 models for 8999.00 right now. If your out of state, thats what you'll pay, no other fees. I know they have the blue/yellow, and possibly the silver/gray ones.

 

Then we've got different definitions. When you go to buy a bike in the state you live in.......you pay taxes. That's OTD for the vast majority of people.

Ah ok, I guess it's different in different places. Sorry to be a jerk over it. It's still a cost when we buy our bikes though, and should be considered in the full price you pay, or specified with or without in this thread

 

I never understood why people didn't just start off with giving the bikes sale price and leave out the sales tax and any title fees property tax and stuff. Sales tax will vary widely. I bought my F4i out of state and paid 7199 plus I opted for the 4 year additional warranty for 430.00. That was it until I tagged the bike in my state at which time I paid sales tax.

Bought my RR in state and paid 8799 plus the 6.3% sales tax and the additional 4 year warranty, only this dealer charged 460 for the warranty. I asked why the difference, since the RR and the F4i was in the same price bracket for the warranty and was told it is up to the dealer as to what the warranty is sold for.

Next time I'm buying my warranty off one of the dealers from Ebay for 360 or so.

 

The reason why you add it all up, is because dealers can list lower sales prices, but have lots of fees they add on to compensate. It's a great way to pull people in and say, hey our prices are low! But at the counter add, "Oh, btw, these are the expenses we have that we pass along to you, the buyer, who always pays for these things".

The only way to measure a deal accurately is to know the absolute bottom line - the Out The Door price. Tax aspects can vary, but they're not controllable. The rest of the lot is.

 

Well, I'm at $10,500 with my local dealer, OTD (with tax) for an '07 1000RR. I think I can bring them down some more, but that's the most I wanted to pay. It just bugs me that Abernathy's comes to about $9900 after tax.

I'll be talking with Honda World in north Miami. I spoke with the general manager before they closed today, and he said they're a high volume dealer, so he'd do a great price. Will probably get that price on Monday. Shame it's 4 hours away from me. But I have read some of you guys really travel for your deals...

$9,546 = 10.6% ($975 profit) $10,118 OTD

$9,486 = 10.0% ($915 profit) $10,055 OTD
