1000RR Vs 600RR
How fast does each one go? Very curious due to the fact that I can't see possibly going anywhere near the limit on my 600! Is the 1000RR mainly for the track. Was told by Honda that my bike could reach speeds up to 160-165! Where the hell am I gonna find a road by me to test that limit let alone a 1000 that can do up to 185?? (Seems noone in the 600RR forum wantsta answer this one)[sm=feedback.gif]
Personal preference. If you want the power then you have it. The 1000rr just plain out accelerates the 600rr. Plus outperforms on the top end. You have a point on the top speed, most people wont ever see that speed. I like the looks of the 1000rr better personally. My bro had a 600 back in the day and kicked himself because he thought it was slow and didn't have the power he had expected. Today the rr is much better and may be what your looking for but I will stick with my 1000.
BTW sounds about right for the speed. Not sure myself on the top speed.

If ya want to go really fast get ya a turbo -- this is a buddy of mine's GPS (he holds the salt flat record so far on a Busa w/turbo)
. Ya it's only 28mph faster than mine but dayumm if 28mph ain't hard to come by when the wind starts acting like a brick wall[8D].

The 600RR will "fit" a smaller guy much better than the litre bike; the 600 loves rpm's - not a tonne of torque on hand. Cheaper to insure. Handles virtually instantaneously. If it were canine it would be a terrier.
The 1000RR will "fit" a bigger sized guy better. There's a thick blanket of torque with the 1000 - can kind of ride it in two styles: short shift and torque your way out of corners, or spin her up and let the rpm's do the motivating. More expensive to insure (some companies won't even touch litre sportbikes). If it were a canine it would be sporrting breed (pointers), ie: weimar, short-hair, vizsla.
Cheers

Why do you care about top speed? If you wanna come close to those speeds, go to a track day or riding school. Riding on the street that fast is not worth it, I don't care what anyone says. The comment about "Some insurance companies won't cover litre bikes", thats a dumb statement to make. Insurance companies love taking high premiums from young riders. I have never come across a company that wouldn't insure my litre bikes. The 1000 and 600 bikes are very different. Smaller engines are able to rev out to higher rpms. I don't think the original post is about seeing the top speed, but should be asking which bike will I be able to utilize the majority of the horsepower. Is it just to say I have topped out my bike? Please enlighten me...
Hes right about insurance companies turning away litre bikes - i speak from much experience - it may be harsher in the UK which is where im from. Ive got 10 years no claims discount, garage, alarms etc....but alot of companies wont touch under 30s. I ride a 1000rr, over here its still called a fireblade - the word fireblade and r1 is a huge problem, my last bike an 02 r1 was near impossible to insure, only 1 company would insure me, the guys i had been with for 8 years even turned me down!! i was shocked to say the least - i hope u guys in the US get an easier ride!!
Sounded like the original question was how fast will each one go. A valid question even though actually topping one out on the street is semi-stupid. I did have insurance companies refuse my Busa and I had no tix, wrex and was 35yo. I actually am saving some $$ with the 1000RR as opposed to the Busa insurance wise.
