Question 08 won't crank

Lately my bike had been acting like it didn't want to start and like my battery was nearly dead sometimes eventhough I keep it on battery tender most if the time when it sits. On a recent trip I noticed my bike was suddenly doing worse gas mileage than normal and seemed to be getting worse. When I pull over to check I notice the bike sounds like it wasn't firing on all cylinders. I kill it and think maybe it's bad gas or clogged injector so I put in a bottle of injector cleaner. When I try to recrank the bike the battery acts nearly dead and the bike barely starts. Sounding like its not firing on all 4 I make it about a mile before it started dropping power fast, so I pulled the clutch and coasted to the side of the road. Tried to restart but battery appeared to be completely drained. Got the bike trailered home where I put it on the battery tender. The battery appeared to be charged in a short time. I turn the key and hear the fuel pump prime, and all lights come on. I push the start button to hear a loud click sound. Thinking maybe the battery was the issue I put it on a different bike and the starter turned fine. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any helpful advice or has any idea what's going on.

Here's a link to diagnostics for the electrical/charging system, that
will cover about any make/model...

Also check out the technical and diagnostic links on this page...

Try putting the batt back in ur bike, It could be as simple as loose terminal connections when it was in your bike

Already put it back on and still the same. Charged it all night and still same. No idea on the volts because it won't crank.

Is it one strong click, or multiple rapid clicks?

Ive seen starters cause one solid click, but I've never seen one cause a bike to start running poorly, it's job is pretty much over once she's running. Maybe bad relay? Try swapping the important relays with like the lighting one or fan one.

It sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Follow the battery cables from the battery to where they hook up. You may have a loose connection at the starter relay or even the ground wire. If either of these connections are loose, the battery won't charge when the bike is running and also the bike will run poorly.

On these bikes, the charging system cannot sustain the requirements of the bike, (the bike runs off the battery, not the charging system) so the battery has to be good and the connections have to be good, or the bike won't run correctly.

Even though the battery worked in a different bike, I would still have it load tested. Every bike is different in there requirements and the 1000RR has a somewhat undersized starter, so they do require a battery that is in top condition.

But the one click sounds like a loose connection. Multiple fast clicks would indicate a weak battery.

Ya my has never sounded like any other bike when it starts, it always sounds weak even after a long ride. It used to bother me but I figured it hasn't let me down yet so I guess Honda does know what their doing
