Default 07 CBR 1000 RR for 10,300 OTD NEW

Hello all, I am a relatively new street bike rider. MY 06 636 was stolen on sunday night. I hadn't even owned it 6 months, it had almost 10,000 miles on it though. I really liked riding it, for a 600 it was fast. Two guys in my group ride 600 rrs and were amazed by that bike. I am not knocking Honda at all, in fact I am leaning towards getting one. I am looking for feedback from Honda guys or girls. Because the Honda dealer has made me the above offer in the subject line. An 07 1000 RR of my choice, for 10,300 includes taxes fees registration everything OTD price. Seems like a smokin deal to me. I ride with a few guys, and one has a 929, which is honest to God not that much faster then my 636 was. My 636 was a little loose in the *** end, which about the only thing i didnt like about it. His 929, has the same brand of tire, Michelin pilot power, and he is running a 180 instead of a 190, so our tire sizes are the same. Anyone have any input on this? I'm thinkingthe bigger bike, while being easier to pull the front end up, sticks to the road a bit more? I was going to get a GSXR 1000, especially because of the 3 settings on the throttle for power, because I am a relatively new rider and this move is a big jump in power. Now i am more leaning towards Honda, aside from being better looking, everyone says this bike is alot more "rideable" then a GSXR. I am not a track guy, I am more of a twisty guy, and Ive even taken a few weeeknd trips, like 300 miles one way. Anyone have any feedback on the above mentioned?Anyone bought an 07 1000RR brand new? Is that as good a price as it seems? Has anyone ridden a GSXR and a CBR that can offer comparison? I have heard the GSXR is a lil faster but the CBR handles better. The slight difference in speed I don't care about, if a CBR handles better that seems like a better choice for me. Thanks in advance for any feedback-John

First off, in my opinion the Honda is the best litre bike out there simply because of the way it's geared. I rode the K7 GSXR1, and I wasn't impressed at all. Same with the new R1. While both bikes have a wicked top-end, they can't touch the low-mid range of the RR. I have an '05 RR and I'd still take it day and night over the GSXR or R1. I got the chance to ride the '07 RR as well; the bike rocked my world, came straight up on me at 5k in second, something my '05 doesn't do. Don't forget that anything with wings in top-notch quality, from lawnmowers to jets.

Well, I've had my '07 for about a week and I love it!! I got it for $11k and the dealer threw in sliders, swingarm spools and waived all of the BS assmebly fees and transport etc etc... But 10,300 is a hell of a sweet deal. I'd jump on that.
I've never ridden the new K7 gsxr1000, but have ridden a K6 1000. Lots of power, just like the RR, but deep down I kind of think it's a cheap piece of poo. It's still as fun as any, but dropping this kind of dough on a toy, you might as well get quality.
But any liter is a HUGE jump from any 600. Something must be wrong with your friends 929 . That should be like night and day compared to a 636.
If you get the 07 1000RR you won't be able to wipe the smile off you face!

id take that deal, i paid that for just my 06 last may so its worth it to me. and my best friend has a 01 929 and i eat that bike up, we were on the highway one night and just lined up and took off at 3 beeps from 30-110 and i had bus lengths on him... i also had my first bike 2004 f4i for about 10 months before i got bored with the 600, you will love the new bike and just remember you control the throttle so take it easy till you learn the powerband...

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm going to the dealer this weekend, have a feeling I am riding home. I really just wanted a little more punch then my 636, but it was the only bike I'd ever ridden extensively, every other bike was just a test ride for a bit. I considered getting the 07 gsxr 750, as luck would have it, a customer of mine had one, with 160 miles on it. I barely know the guy and can you believe he handed the thing over to me? I rode it for 5 hours and hate that thing. How did it win bike of the year? Power band freggin sucks! Doesn't come to life until almost 11k RPM. NO low end in that thing at all. i will say it rides damn smooth, handles really nice, brakes excellent, in terms of comfort, top notch, but it doesn't do a thing for me as far as power. Noticed it has a steering stabilizer from the factory, thing tracks really nice and damn near rides itself. In my opinion, if the bike doesn't scare you, at least on the first day, why even bother. 636 won the 600 shootout in 06, runs the quarter in 10.3,2007GSXR 750 runs it in 10.6, no idea what the 929 runs it in. i'm not going to trade down in power, butthe 636tracks like **** and vibrates through the hand controls like you would not believe. so, since noone else makes a 750 for me to compromise on, looks like it will be the 1000RR at the moment, plus the RRs have stabilizers in them now too, thinking a 1000 RR will ride nicer then my 636. I didn't realize how much i missed riding, until i noticed how much TV i was watching this week, and thought, ****, i would usually be out riding right now. Like i said, going to the dealer tomorrow, with down payment in my pocket, gonna try and grind that price to 10 grand out the door. I'll report next week and you can be sureif i get this thing this weekend, by next weekend, that bike will have a thousand miles on it.

Btw, anyone have any experience with weighted "barends", i may have the name wrong, these little ends that you screw onto your handle bars and they are weighted, supposed to absorb vibration, not expensive, only like 50 or 60 bucks, but don't want to buy something that doesn't work.
