05 CBR 1000rr - engine ticking

One is automatic one is manual. One takes care of itself but breaks down. One lasts forever but requires adjustments.

It is true these are just noisy engines. My 05 that I've had since new has always been this way. I have over 20k miles on it now.
Unless yours is making something different, its probably just the normal noises these engines make. Just be glad your not on a ducati with a dry clutch. Mine doesn't sound so much like metal tapping, but more like noisy injectors. thats the best way I can describe it.
As for the chain tensioner. I doubt that yours is bad. Many 600 cbr's had issues with them, but not many 1000RR's that I have heard of.
If you truly feel its out of the ordinary for your motor, start looking to where the noise is coming from. You may be able to pin point the exact area. I would start with making sure you don't have an exhaust leak somewhere. I've seen many exhaust leaks fool people into thinking there is something seriously wrong with their engine.
