Default yet another regulator question

OK i have been scanning through here all morning trying to find a similar issue to mine but have yet to find one

So the other day i was out on the bike and all was well so i stopped at McD's for a small shake and when i cam out went to start the bike cranking well but still had the kill switch to off so flicked the switch to run and nothing bar a small click from the starter solenoid and rev counter needle jumping all over the place.
So bump started all ok and rode home fine
got home still same issue
put jump leads on from the car started sweet
removed battery and put on charge charger says fully charged with 12.6v showing
removed battery tops all look ok but 1 cell has gone all milky so cant see plates (battery was new in january)
so today jump started again and checked charge at 15.4v at 4k rpm
is this a shot reg/rec and fried my battery??
also why is the one for a 87 so much more expensive than a 90 on?
regulator rectifierregulator/rectifier fits Honda CBR1000 Hurricane electrical parts for motorcycles Electrex World

Would my reg/rec show excess voltage due to battery being carp ???

I believe your charging voltage is in the good range. A 'milky' cell sounds like the culprit. I reccomend taking the battery back for a replacement.

It sounds to me like
1 The battery is fried - did you keep it warm during the winter ? Batteries hate cold and I have seen a 1 month old battery die after a cold snap.
2 Have your regulator/rectifier checked - also look for any scorch marks on the wires going from the statot to the reg/rec. A bad connection can cause a problem for the battery and the reg/rec. Make sure your earth wires are well connected.
3 You may have fried the starter solenoid but I'd check the battery and reg/rec first.
4 The stator could have a problem but it's likely the first two issues.
5 Check when the bike is running at +3000 revs what current reading you get going into your battery - should be 13.5 - 15.5 V. If it's not, the reg/rec is likely fried.
Hope this helps.....

As for the price difference - not sure, but you should get 20% off the UK price as it is being exported .....
