Yer , I knew it would be the clutch not the motor..

CBRclassic thanks for the links to the photos. I will do the operation as soon as the cold breaks 38f here and my garage is unheated. I will most likely rebuild the carbs back to OEM as I am pretty sure the previous owner overjetted. She runs rich and starts hard even when the starter works fine in warm weather. If I take the carbs apart how will I know if the jets are larger than OEM ?

Here's a link to a good step by step on replacing the damper. I've don the job, engine in and its not that bad... I'm a Chef so if I can do it, anybody can. This guy Stu, here in NZ, has done it also. Check it out and good luck.
