But it didn't. In fact, it ran excellent. It's all about checking and rechecking.
That's exactly what I'm thinking lol. What will happen when I turn the ignition
key, the valves will be going out through the side of the engine..

As I said earlier, never adjusted valves on any vehicle. I've done a lot of
repair jobs on cars before but mainly restorations, never dared to go into the
fine mechanics. Oh well, I've checked the settings, and double checked and, and.. lol..

Thx for the sidenote about the head cover, I have cracks in camholders already so I'll be
very cautious. Have to get it in place first though and that's not easy, should
have done this job when I had the carbs and wires out of the way.

The EX valves will run cooler thanks to you. You made it better not worse. Loose is far better than thigh.

My pulse generator wheel doesn't have a mark at 180º either.
Everything else everyone has said here is good advice.
I'm due for a new set of feeler gauges. The old faithfully are starting to show their age after 30 years of service. When you need em they've got to be spot on or you're wasting your time.
Perhaps I can blow something up on your behalf Trout. A sex doll maybe?

The lack of mark must have been due to the same Sake guy, damn him. Must be the same production day run.

Don't bother Henry. It wouldn't be loose enough for him.

You're right. And they're so cheap, it's silly not to get a fresh set.

Well... she can't say no, but then again... she can't say yes.
So you're right. Sort-of.

Guys, you made my evening lol Back from the garage and nearly everything is assembled. Believe it or not but despite the warning I got I snapped one of the valve cover bolts.

Can't blame the sake guy there, but maybe the previous owner that made those cracks in the cam holder and ruining the bolt at the same time.
I Hardly tightened it but it felt strangely "soft" so I thought I'd better tighten that bolt by hand and even so it snapped!

Fixed it with a drill and luckily got the remaining part out so gonna get a new
bolt and hopefully I will get her started tomorrow.

And thx TBT, but let's wait until tomorrow and see if I made it better or worse

I was afraid that would happen. Those bolts get soooo soft. I've snapped a couple of them if it makes you feel any better.
At least they're pretty easy to find.

Much better
Well you did warn me and still.. Think they are a bit undersized for this purpose?
Can't get hold of one here yet so have to fix it temporarily.

Thanks a lot guys. It's raining today so I figured I adjust the valves and check the balance of the carbs but you are scaring the bejesus out of me.
