Default Useless knowledge at it's best..

I've searched through forums before to find out how much stock exhaust weighs, with no luck in finding it. After everyone tells you "The biggest notice is less weight." When you get an aftermarket exhaust. But nobody says how much weight. So here the weight of the stock cans is... 18.5lbs.
That's almost a 20lbs loss. I think that's pretty signifigant for a bike. I could definately feel the weight loss. But know we know for sure. Useless Knowledge at it's best.

another thing that weigh a crap ton are the wheels. i never put it on the scale but i'm pretty sure that the vfr swingarm and wheel weighed about the same as just the 1000 wheel.

You're saying one can is 18.5 lbs? what about the headers and covers? I think the change to a 4-1 saves over 30 lbs overall

Sorry I didn't clarify. The weight is for both cans only header not included. I made my own slip-on. So you were just about right saying a whole system is like 30lbs. Yeah, I agree the wheels and swingarm probably carry alot of dead weight also. When I get my '91 rim and put a new tire on it I'll weigh it in along with the old '89 one. Probably be the same, adding more rim/less tire versus more tire/less rim. I haven't looked yet but it'd be cool if one of the newer cbr aluminum swing arms would mount up.... But that's almost carrying it too far. After you try and mod that much... might as well just buy the better bike.

It may even be more than that as the header is bloody heavy as well.

I know the weight of my 4-2-1 V&H is about the same weight as just one stock muffler!
