Default Upgraded Reg/Rec

OK, my newly acquired '93 has 23k on the clock, so it's in the fail range for a typical Honda reg/rec.

The upgrade options seem to be:

Ricks - £80 from the USA

ProCom - £60 from the UK

Unnamed - £20 from China

Opinions? Links? Tips?

It doesn't have to be a Honda unit. Lots of people use GSX-r units. Look at local scrap yards. Just make sure its from a bike of similar size.

A used one could fail as fast as the existing unit.

I'd rather buy a recommended upgrade, new.

Electrex are the go-to for the cbr1000f, drop Shadow a line, I think there's a discount for forum members maybe.

Follow the link. Your Search Results with Electrex World Ltd

Click on the User CP at the top left of the page, then click 'edit your details' to fill in location ect. Then we'll all be
able to see where you are in the world on all your posts

Not necessarily. The honda units don't have adequate heat sinking - thats why they fail. The Suzuki ones are very efficient.

Do what you want, but if I found a cheap used one (not a honda), I'd go with that.

my $0.02

I see them as essentially a "consumable" item and all are destined to eventually
give out - nature of what they do. I 'd go new & I'd go with the UK electrex brand
Hawk linked in - A good few of us have gone with those - I believe the woman's name
is Lisa there - tell them Shadow sent ya - they'll only charge you 10% more then

JK , they'll take care of you tho' !

Also the electrex UK one comes with it's own harness plug/connector , so you have to
lop off the existing one and crimp theirs on - easy as hell takes about 10 mins with a
pliers
