Default Tires / Tyres

I was shopping around for tires that I needed quickly for a trip. I could not find a shop that carried Metzler Z6's (I like them the best so far). One shop that is very good carries Shinko brand tires and they told me that the sport and S/T guys love them. I figured I would give them a try. Yesterday I had them mounted.

The Metzler Z6 tires are being replaced with Z8's and will be hard to find for some sizes for now.

Shinko makes two hardness tires In the size I needed, I got the harder one for longer wear and more S/T applications.

^ Those are the ones that I have. They roll into a turn real quick, not use to that yet, almost scary.

I had to remove the releasing agent from them yesterday, I almost went down when the rear spit out.

Yea they drop pretty easy, but since I have owned the bike it has had these tires, so I can not tell any difference or may any comparissons. I took it easy on the tires for the first 200 miles, and would scrub them on slow tight turns in my parking lot. They seem to do well in the rain as well. already got about 1k on em.

Getting ready for a ride with Sprock and cbr2cbr to Nova Scotia tomorrow so I wanted to break them in some. They only have a few miles on them but I scrubbed them in today. The really hold well. I used Mean Green to take some of the release agent off before the ride. They were touchy at first but I got them further and further into the lean. Got them near to scraping pegs, not bad for new tires.

$102 for the front and $132 for the rear. Not bad but I still have to see how they do for wear and rain.

The Z6's held well on damp roads, we will see how the 009's work up Nord.

I hope you like them. I hope you have fun on the trip, too.
I would be there, but some other things came up. Or rather "out"... lol.

Oh and by the way..... it's "tires". I'm sure of it.

I know that! But anyway, I have packed a socket and spanners for drive chain maintenance. Pulling out and around articulated lorries when fully loaded can put strain on the chain.

So far so good, I like the tires. wen tout yesterday and had them laid down on some cold damp roads. They hold well in the rain too. I don't know the longevity yet.

They do have a heavy carcass and may be heavier than what some riders want but I feel that they are more reliable due to the extra thickness and mass.
