I am not looking to skimp on tires. I have ridden bikes for a few years now, and know that this is not like a car where if one blows you can pull to the side of the road. I am just looking for some good budget tires. I have ridden battle axes before on another bike and they hold quite well. just wondering if anyone else has used some of the brands in my price range.

I've ridden both the Bridgstone 020 and the Michelin PR2's, both are good tyres, the PR2's may have the edge in the longevity department.

Due to a tight wallet I'll be fitting a set of the Maxxis sports touring tyres for the summer season, they just can't be beaten on price, just hope they perform well.

If you could find good tires for $250 you would be doing good! I use the basic Michelin Pilot Roads and they have been good to me. Last a long time. Im on my 3rd set(2 bikes) and i have no complaints. I just save up a little money on the side for that $400 expense and its worth it to me.

I bought some Metzler sport tires at a deal one time, and I think I only got 6,000 miles out of them with just normal riding. I wont be doing that again.

Nobody is talking about skimping. It's not a given that spending more money + getting better stuff. There's nothing wrong with trying to save money where you can get better value.

I have a 180/55-17 Pilot Power on my rear and it's just fine as far as fitment goes, but I think I'll recommend staying with the OEM 170/60-17.

I have owned Battleaxes, not on this bike, and I really like them. Very predictable in corners, good wear and fairly inexpensive.

I'm not really sold on the PP, but it just may be me, they seem to be a little unpredictable in fast sweepers, kinda feel like the let loose before they grab. Again, may just be me.

(may also be that the over sized tire is pinched)

This is just a rumor a tire distributor told me: supposedly the Michelin are often manufactured in a Chinese factory that a lot of other tire companies use, and the Bridgestone are only built in Europe.

Again, it's a 2nd hand rumor.

Am I the only one to run Bridgestone BT-016's?
For $255 from Bike Bandit plus shipping. 12/70 front 180/55 rear. A170/60 saves about $10.

I put Dunlop Supermax on mine. 120 in front, 180/55 in the rear

I have been riding on a set of Avonss storm 2 ultras, love them great grip , incredible in the wet , great milage. Makes the motorcycle steering livelier. I had bridgestones, did not like them i always felt they were slippery and di not wear evenly.


My two cents!
