Sorry Sprock, I've been over here since '88 so I've picked up the slang by now. 'Arvo' is just an abbreviation for afternoon. e.g. "Went for a ride yesterday arvo, it was the dog's bollocks!"

Hope that clears things up for you mate .

Lol... I love it. I worked with some Aussies and Tasmanian Firefighters (still Aussies ?) on a wildland fire in Washington State. Kinda like a foreign exchange student program for firefighters. I worked with some Aussies for about a month, an experience I will NEVER forget.

These guys were the BEST. I LOVED IT!!!...

Maybe a question for the Aussies... Is Alpaca (sp?) big there? This one guy guy LOVED is Alpaca Coat. He was completely warm and we were shivering lol.

Anyhoo.... my 2 favorite sayings I picked up from him, and still use....

1. "Duck Nuts" - I was told it ment "cool", "awesome", ect

2. "Pissing In Your Pocket" - Basically, pulling your chain, f-ing with ya....

I love it!

Alpaca is pretty big here, very expensive to buy though.A lot of hobby farmers here in Victoria.
A few of the Stawell,Baccus Marsh Firies went to the Canada Fires this year,no one from our Brigade though.
Hope you got on the Grogg with the Aussies............
