Temp sender unit

Temp sender unit
I found a replacement temp sender unit at my local spares shop, and decided to remove the old one from the thermostat housing, to be sure what I was buying was the correct size ......AAAAAAAAAAAAAArrrrgggggggghhh !
Bastik thing had been in there 19 years and is made of brass...........sheared it clean off !
Bike doesn't leak, so still rideable, but decided to check old reliable e-Bay Motors
and found a complete thermostat unit with hoses, temp sender unit and radiator cap for $15 and another 15 for postage - BARGAIN
Needless to say, I nearly broke my own speed record paying for the thing.
I'll still attempt to extract the old thread section from my thermostat unit, which still works fine. If I can, there'll be spares available should anyone need them.......
Any tips for removal ? It broke off flush with the housing.......
I s'pose an e z out might work.........

3 can job
Steve, that is some of the best advice. But, don't forget to chase it with a shot of Jimmy Black. I hate when things snap off making a 20 minute job into a couple of hour job.
Good luck Shadow and if you need a couple of mates to give you a hand with the drinks, Steve, Hawk and I will be right there for you... We are here for you Shadow and will do our best to keep your spirits up and your liquid level low....

LMAO Joe
Yer , I hate the old , sit down in a chair in the garage , doing the old head in hands , face down or just staring at my ride ,
thinking to myself ( " chit, now ov bloody gone and done it !! " )
The only course of action then , automatically becomes , the old wander off to the outside bar fridge and grab a coldie ... then wander back to the chair for more pondering just staring at her , again thinking to myself ..what a fVking dick rash
It's why I wont touch chit unless its buggered first ..

Speaking for people
Shadow, you can speak for me anytime as long as you bring the drinks, my friend!!!!
Just remember where I live. If you liquify my taste buds a little much, I do like to toss my old paint brushes on the neighbor's roof. When my neighbor says, "Aren't you going to get that down?" I'll just bring out the 44 mag and retrieve my old paint brush. Shuts that dang neighbor up every time!!!! That's when I will need you to speak for me!! Tell the sheriff that my other neighbor, the Reno Cop, did it!!

Whenever there's hot water flowing past dissimilar metals like brass and zinc, or aluminum, what ever the housing is made from, you get a chemical reaction. That brass may be welded to the housing. You could try soaking it with PB Blaster, but it may be hopeless. Nice score on the one from ebay.
