Hi Rob,
Im in the middle of a 1kf naked project and have completed what I did with the fairings etc. Check my thread out here.

Like you my fairings had seen better days. The previous owner tried painting them himself and totally fu%ked them up so I thought I could turn her into a naked project. I'm using the bike for commuting to work so wasn't after a showroom look but it came up good I thought. Cheers.

There are some nice examples on the net, just google Naked CBR1000F. I was think of doing it to mine because it's way to expensive to replace all the plastic but as yet have retained the fairing.

Here are a couple Rob, nice examples in my view but not everyone will agree. Not sure who built them but I do like the top one, very clean!!

That's actually pretty cool, but there must have been some clever engineering **** going on to get that VFR swingarm on. That is going above and beyond "looking to take my plastics off"

im liking the top one big time
however going single sider will be out of budget (for now at least)

im thinking of junking all plastics and going flat bars and simple single headlight
then change seat unit to another style (916 is a option but has been done to death so maybe rgv250 style?? )
bigger rims off a mk2 (mine is a 1987 mk1)

can anyone make out if there stock forks on the above pic??

Thanks Rob

ps keep the options coming guys

Edit to add found the link for above bike looks sweet

The forks on the black one certainly look original, though I think it's a MK3. Not too sure about the red one, but they look original from what I can see.

MK2 front forks on the red one mated to a chopped tail Mark 1 frame imo

Go on then Bordo - take time doing it and wait see if ya can get a single sided swinger
if I was fightering one I'd hold out for that above all else - looks badazz imo
