Maybe I“m stupid, but why don“t you try to adjust the balance shaft drive gear? Seems to be a very easy operation, it can“t hurt? I think it was Noe who had a thread about it, search!

Tried that first didn't make any difference I think I may be too picky off this noise maybe it just a bit of wear and tear as I cant find anything that it has affected. When I changed the oil after my trip I actually strained the oil and checked it with a magnet but NO METAL OR PLASTIC

Hi mate yes we had a great trip doing 5,000 Kls and not once getting caught in the rain not once, and aslo we were not pulled over or given a fine, pretty good eh! THe Honda went well like a Honda great she loved the trip oncce I got it home I did an oil change and also replaced the back wheel bearings and also had a leakign fork seal so did them too put 15 weight oil and that really changed its handling. We didnt get as far as we had hoped as we wanted to go to South Australia but we did get to the Blue Mountains now thats a nice place, we could live there without too much hassells. I could go on and on about the trip and the scenery so will post a couple of pics for you. Also a small note we got 12,400 Kls out of the rear tyre it was a Bridgestone Batalax BT 20 not bad eh ?? As for the noise I think it just may be wear and tear and me being paronoid about noises it is there but doesnt seem to be doing any harm, so I think I will leave good enough alone as they say if it aint broke dont touch it.

Hi, just had a thought. Does the noise go away once the revs get past around 2000 or so? You said earlier that it gets louder when you rev the engine. Does it continue to get louder, or die away?

Well kind of ? the noise doesnt increases as such ( Doesnt get louder just gets faster ??? sounds liek its slower than say the crank as if its reduced down in Ratio) but it is faint and seems to be noticable to me at idle but not others?? but I can really hear it ( Not like the voices in my Head that say FASTER !!!!).
I had a thougth yesterday that the plugs had about 7,000 Kls on them so got new ones and last night it didnt seem to be ther just faintly and the motor is runnig a bit smoother as well and the RPMs have dropped approx 100 RPM with the new plugs, she seems to want new ones around the 4,000 K mark.

Hi Noe, well as strange as it sounds about a months or so ago the noise stated and one night I had the ****s big time with it and gave it hell coming home 12 - 13,000 revs all the way when I got home it had seemed to go away and strangely enough it ran about 200 % better. I have also been running Premium Unleaded in it the bike shop says that the standard unleaded was making the bike Ping !! BUT 2 months ago she wouldn't run properly on Standard Unleaded ??? it was hard to start etc. So it must have been something stuck in the carbs or something making the motor run rough or something like that. Anyway the motor now has only a very small noise from that area which I cant heard on top of the bike so I have not worried since.
And unfortunately my Red bike and I are parting company next Saturday as I have purchased a new 2007 Super blackbird this will be my very first brand new bike so am looking forward to putting some Ks on her and hope so gives us the enjoyment the old 92 did.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like I just have to try to rev the hell out of her, to see if that helps. Funny enough my own experience is that when driving a lot if city duty with a lot og low rev work, the ratteling is at it's worst, but when ridden on the highway with more revs, it seems to rattle a bit less... Funny!

Congrats on your new bike. Had a chance to ride two different fuel injected Blackbirds together with two ZZR1200's, and ohh buy does that Blackbird just run smooth!!! Just a piece of art on two wheels. Deffently the replacement for my Cane when time comes! The ZZR is pulling harder, but dosn't even come close in the matter of smooth riding and build quality!

Looking much forward to hear your opinions on the Bird when she arrives

Noe

Could that be because the bike is running hotter doing the city riding, (less air flow)
