Default steering don't track

I have downloaded the repair manual and plan to work on the bike over the winter. Should I be freaking out that the steering tracks maybe 5 degrees off center? Also, can someone tell me if this bike will always kill when the choke is off and I come to a stop. Thanx,

Bike shouldn't die when you stop with the choke off

Try bumping up your idle adjustment a bit- up to 1100 rpm is within the recommended range (1200 rpm for California models).
As to your steering, has your bike been down in it's lifetime? Mine had when I bought it. Months after my purchase, I noticed one day while riding down the freeway that my bars weren't centered against the Honda logo under my guages even though I was going straight down the road. This annoyed the hell out of me and I tried all sorts of things to true it up. Ultimately, I bought a used lower triple tree (about $20 off ebay) and installed it on my bike. This cured the "problem". Mind you, I never noticed any handling problems with the old triple tree- I was simply annoyed that things didn't seem to be as they should.

Thanx for that. Yes, I recently purchased the bike and it was in a pretty good accident because the snap-on plastic is all messed up and a mirror is broken off.

I will adjust that idle this weekend and see if it continues to kill.

Thanx a lot for the info,
