Default Starting issues '95 1000

Hey guys I have been getting a 50/50 starting ratio with my 95 CBR 1000. Sometimes she will sit there and crank without ever turning over. I have tried different choke positions with no relevant results in consistency. I did a voltage test, and she gives a constant 12.4v with the bike off. A constant 12.4 with it on. The volt increase with RPMs, but shouldn't the alternator bump the 12.4 to a 13-14v when the bike is running?

Thanks for the help.

EzElzz

PS: Additional Info... Replaced all 4 spark plugs even though they were in good condition. The headlight was noticeably brighter. =P And I am gonna check my air filter.

G'Day EzElzz and welcome to the forum.

The CBR1000F starts best with NO throttle and full choke, reducing the choke as the bike warms up.

Cranking issues have been known to be caused by a slipping alternator damper, but the non change in volts intrigues me.

The voltage regulator should let the voltage rise to the high 13s/low 14s particularly if the battery needs a little charging.

The battery is fully charged? The bikes also like a good strong battery.

Cheers, SB

Default Thanks for the suggestions

Problem has been solved. I cleaned the air filter, and also took the battery out. I checked the battery to find that it was down to 50% capacity and holding a 45% charge. I refilled the battery with the leftover battery acid, and recharged it. The bike started the instant I hit it with full choke. Thanks for the help guys!
