Default Starter damper - again

Right I no longer own a Hurricane, but there's a large pile of parts in my garage, with no stator, starter damper etc..................
Took about 4 hours to strip everything off, and incl removing the damper which I grovelled with a bit as my big hands aren't an advantage.
I've found a small washer that looks to be in two pieces, down the shaft, which doesn't look right.
Pic attached. It seems to fit in a groove ......
Boffins please advise if it's just broken or is supposed to be in two pieces. Thanks Boffins !

I believe it's broken, it's a circlip style ring I think one end open only.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Pete.
Will watch for your saga with "there for the grace of god go I" attitude - hope it isn't too painfull.

Regards.....

Thanks Martin, I'm half way right now, busy replacing the plates in the damper.

Oh and by the way,
Also the damper has two half rings at bottom that just might be displaced and that might be the reason why the clutch is slipping.

Thanks Kaspar

I'm sure I saw something similar about a broken washer in one of the other threads on the clutch damper mechanism?

Gentlemen you are referring to the main circlip, which is 42mm diameter, and holds the plates into the damper.

Thanks but I have my answer - it is in two halves, ex factory, so it isn't broken.
